The two-time world champion driver Fernando Alonso renewed his contract with Alpine for another season in the Formula 1. The Asturian will remain in the team at least until the end of 2022.
Alonso returned to Formula 1 this season and, along with Esteban Ocon, took Alpine to 5th place in the team championship. “I am very happy to renew my contract with Alpine. I feel at home at the moment and I was welcomed with open arms on my return,” said Alonso in an official statement.

The 40-year-old driver was even one of the highlights of the last GP (Hungary), coming in 4th place. Currently, Alonso is 11th in the drivers’ championship, with 38 points earned. His teammate Ocon won the last GP, beating the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
Formula 1 returns this next weekend, with the Belgian GP. Hamilton leads the competition with 195 points, while Verstappen trails behind with 187.
