In a statement from the FIA, the organization has announced that it wants to make the final decisions following the detailed analysis before the Grand Prix in Bahrain. This analysis mainly looks at the situation that took place during the Abu Dhabi GP, in which Max Verstappen controversially took the title at the expense of Lewis Hamilton.
The FIA announces that it will enter into consultations with all F1 teams, including the events and decisions made in Abu Dhabi. The use of the Safety Car will be discussed on 19 January, after which a consultation with the drivers themselves will take place about what insights they have.
The results of the analysis will be presented to the F1 Commission in February, after which the final results will be announced on March 18 in Bahrain at the World Motor Sport Council. With this announcement, new FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem is seizing the opportunity to make an impression early on in his term.
