Lewis Hamilton has completely restored the tension in the world championship. The reigning title holder managed to win the Qatar Grand Prix and is therefore looking at prolongation. Afterwards, he appeared satisfied at the grid interviews.
Hamilton started the race in the Middle East from pole position and knew that Verstappen would not be directly on his tail due to a grid penalty. The Brit was thus quickly able to draw a gap and then drove a solitary race. Because Hamilton was able to win the race, he was able to completely reduce the tension in the title fight. Afterwards, he was extremely satisfied and said he couldn’t wait for the last two races of the season.
Hamilton is looking forward to the final phase of the season
“First of all I want to thank all the people who are here. The race was quite lonely, but we really need these points. It has been a great team performance, also with the pit stops,” said Hamilton afterwards. Being so far ahead of the rest, he has no idea what was happening behind him. “I can’t wait to watch the race back so I know what happened behind me.”
The victory in Qatar ensures that the tension in the championship is completely back. The advantage for Verstappen is still minimal. Hamilton is therefore looking forward to the final phase. “This is an excellent starting position for the last two races. I feel good, the car also feels good. Let the last two races come,” said the driver from Stevenage.
