As happens every Thursday, a new edition of the section arrives today in which we review some particular issues of the highest category. On this occasion, we will stop at the penalty points of each driver on the grid.
As the races go by, score as many points as possible for the World Championship of the Formula 1, both in the pilots section, as well as in the constructors section, it acquires a notable importance. However, there are also penalty units that are added to the super license , which cannot exceed number 12, since that would lead to suspension for a Grand Prize . In this situation, which is of special interest to drivers when taking risks or taking precautions, we will stop to take note of those who are closest to a penalty on the grid.
Lando Norris and Lance Stroll: 8 points
The young McLaren racked up eight units for having incurred fouls by ignoring red and yellow flags during qualifying tests (three points each) and by taking drivers off the track , as happened in the Austrian Grand Prix with Sergio Pérez . For its part, the Aston Martin reached the same figure for leaving the track on countless occasions during a race and for causing collisions with its rivals .
Sergio Pérez: 7 points
The Mexican increased the number of his locker by having scored four units in the Austrian Grand Prix for overtaking during the safety car period (two points) and taking Charles Leclerc off the track twice. In addition to the above, ‘ Checo ‘ also obtained two points for gaining an advantage by going off the track in the Italian Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel, Nikita Mazepin and Nicholas Latifi: 6 points
The Aston Martin German, in one striking case, added five points at the Bahrain Grand Prix by ignoring yellow flags in qualifying and causing a collision with Esteban Ocon in the race. Added to that, he also got one more for blocking Fernando Alonso in the classification of the Austrian Grand Prix.
Haas’s Russian, in turn, increased his numbers by ignoring flags during various race situations and causing collisions or roadblocks , as repeatedly happened with his teammate, Mick Schumacher.
Turning now to the Williams man situation, the Canadian was penalized for entering the pit lane during a safety car period and for ignoring yellow flags.
George Russell, Yuki Tsunoda, Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen: 4 points
Williams’ Briton appears in this section for being penalized for actions that involved ignoring yellow flags and causing a collision with Carlos Sainz in the sprint qualifying race at the British Grand Prix.
The Japanese Alpha Tauri, meanwhile, added his points for abusing the track limits , blocking Bottas during qualifying and repeatedly stepping on the white line in the pit lane.
As for the Finn Mercedes, he got his drives for reckless driving in the pit lane and causing a collision at the Hungarian Grand Prix .
The Finn from Alfa Romeo, meanwhile, got that number for causing collisions with rivals at the Eifel and Austrian Grand Prix.
Antonio Giovinazzi: 3 points
The Alfa Romeo driver added that figure for having surpassed during the safety car period at the Austrian Grand Prix and for returning to the track in an unsafe way at the Italian Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen: 2 points
The Monegasque from Scuderia Ferrari got his pair of units for his collision with ‘Checo’ Pérez at the Sakhir Grand Prix.
The defending crown, in turn, scored two points for causing a collision with Verstappen at the British Grand Prix.
Turning now to the Red Bull driver, he reached the line that allows him to be in this section for causing a collision with Hamilton in the Italian Grand Prix.
Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon: 1 point
The Australian from McLaren added a single unit for ignoring the instructions of the race director, the Ferrari, for his part, succeeded in blocking Pérez in qualifying for the Turkish Grand Prix.
The Frenchman from Alpha Tauri, in turn, was penalized for improperly positioning his car on the starting grid, while the Frenchman from Alpine received a point in his superlicense for causing a collision with Vettel at Monza.
