In addition to David Coulthard, Mika Hakkinen and Tom Kristensen, Jos Verstappen will also be part of the international Viaplay team from 2022. The streaming service announced this on Monday morning. The Scandinavian company has signed an exclusive partnership for many years with Max Verstappen and father Jos is also part of this.
From this season, Viaplay will broadcast Formula 1 in the Netherlands, using two different teams. A Dutch team of analysts is based in Amsterdam, consisting of: Christijan Albers, Tom Coronel and Giedo van der Garde. The presentation in the studio will be provided by Amber Brantsen.
On location, the analysts are a group of international ‘greats’ from motorsport. David Coulthard (13-time F1 Grand Prix winner), Mika Hakkinen (two-time F1 world champion) and Tom Kristensen (nine-time Le Mans winner) were already part of the team, to which Jos Verstappen has now been added.
The Dutchman has 106 starts in Formula 1 to his name, taking the podium twice. In recent years, Jos has been mainly known as the father and mentor of Max Verstappen, with whom he won the world championship in 2021. Verstappen senior will not be part of the Viaplay team every race, but he will join ‘regularly’, both parties have announced.
