Finnish Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen will also have to skip the Italian Grand Prix this weekend. The 41-year-old Alfa Romeo driver is still in quarantine after a positive corona test and has not yet received permission to race again. Polish reserve driver Robert Kubica will again replace him at Monza.
Raikkonen was told last Saturday in Zandvoort that he had been infected. Kubica then also took his place and finished 15th during the Grand Prix of the Netherlands. Max Verstappen won the race in front of his home crowd.
The 36-year-old Kubica can prepare for his 99th grand prix. He won 1 in his career. That was before a serious accident almost ended his motorsport career. However, he recovered from the serious injuries to his arm and even made a short comeback as a race driver in Formula 1. Since 2020 he has been reserve at Alfa Romeo.
Raikkonen will retire from Formula 1 after this season.
