Szafnauer left Aston Martin after many years, it is expected that he will be hired by competitor Alpine.
Krack has known the four-time world champion Vettel since their times together at BMW-Sauber around a decade and a half ago, when Krack was employed as an engineer at Sauber. “It is fantastic to be reunited with him,” emphasized Vettel’s new boss in a statement on Friday, adding: “We will work incredibly hard, we want to win. Together we will.”
A first highlight of his new term of office will be the presentation of the racing car for the coming season on February 10th – online. The AMR22 will then be unveiled at the British automaker’s Gaydon headquarters. It is the second car of the team that returned to the premier motorsport class last season but was unable to fulfill their high hopes and ambitions.
The cars for the coming season will differ significantly from their predecessor models after radical aerodynamic changes. To what extent the rule modifications will also affect the balance of power remains to be seen. The season with a total of 23 races starts on March 20th in Bahrain.
