News from the Alfa Romeo camp. The racing stable has announced that it will continue with reserve driver Robert Kubica and the collaboration with sponsor ORLEN has also been extended.
While the team opted for major changes at the front of the stable, everything at the back will remain as it was. Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi will disappear from the premier class after this year and they will be replaced at Alfa Romeo by Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou. On the other hand, the team announced on Wednesday that Kubica will remain as the team’s reserve driver, while also extending its partnership with sponsor PKN ORLEN, a Polish oil and gas station chain.
The experienced Kubica is delighted to remain part of the premier class, he said in a response to Alfa Romeo’s Twitter. “I am very happy that we will represent Poland together at the top of motorsport”, he refers to ORLEN. “No doubt the coming season will be full of challenges again, but hopefully there will be many interesting races ahead with a lot of emotion. See you on the track, fingers crossed.”
Vasseur happy with extension
Team boss Frederic Vasseur is happy about the extension with the sponsor. “We are thrilled to extend our successful partnership with PKN ORLEN into a third year. ORLEN is a loyal supporter of our team. Their presence underlines our goal to be one of the most attractive teams in the sport for global brands. We are determined to keep us growing together,” he said.
