It’s official: George Russell is Lewis Hamilton’s new teammate in 2022. The brand new Mercedes duo will do everything they can to win a new world title next year.
Russell’s new team-mate Lewis Hamilton welcomed him in a social media post: “I want to take a moment to welcome George Russell to the team,” Hamilton wrote on his Instagram page. “I remember meeting him when he was young, dreaming of one day being a Formula 1 driver. I had only just realised my own dream, so I know what this day means and how it will feel for him.”
According to Hamilton, Russell is a real role model for the youth. In his post on social media, he says the following: “He is a great example to all the kids out there that dreams do come true when you chase them wholeheartedly. Through hard work he has rightly earned his spot on our team. I look forward to seeing him grow as a driver with this great team and working with him to raise Mercedes higher.”
