Live 2 p.m. | Verstappen in action in virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans

Max Verstappen does not sit still during the winter break. He will be in action in the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans with his sim racing team, Team Redline. The endurance event will take place from 2pm and he will alternate with three teammates in an attempt to be the first to cross the finish line after a full day of sim racing.

Verstappen and his teammates will start the race from second place. Qualifying for the virtual event was held on Friday and the Dutchman was two thousandths short of the number one on the grid in that qualifying. Footage later surfaced from his livestream, showing him bummed when he pulled out of the box by such a narrow margin.

With a second starting spot, however, anything is still possible. Verstappen also has three teammates in Max Benecke, Felix Rosenqvist and Atze Kerkhof on whom he can build. Benecke often sim races with the Red Bull Racing driver and is virtually very fast. Kerkhof is also known for the sim racing world, and even coaches Verstappen. After all, Rosenqvist has a lot of experience on tangible circuits, but can also use it online.

Verstappen little success in previous edition virtual 24 hours of Le Mans

Verstappen participated once before in the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans. At the time, the Limburger was doing well, but was tapped by a competitor around midnight due to server problems. The chance of victory was lost and disappointment reigned among the competitive driver. This year he is out for revenge and with a second place on the grid he has already taken the first step.
