Lando Norris is looking forward to the upcoming race weekend in Turkey. The British driver thinks it will be a lot more difficult than the previous two races, but is hopeful that the team can get good points again.
The McLaren team has shown in recent races that it is really on its way to the top again. Daniel Ricciardo managed to win the Italian Grand Prix, while Norris almost took the victory in Russia. However, a wrong decision to stay out in the rain meant that the win ultimately went to Lewis Hamilton. Norris tells F1.com that he is therefore very much looking forward to the upcoming race weekend in Turkey. “We’ve had two very good weekends, both in Italy and of course Russia,” said the McLaren driver. “Especially after how Russia has ended, I just want to get back in the car and try again.”
No warranty for McLaren
“There is no guarantee that we can do this well again,” the Briton continues. “We may not take another pole position, or we may not be able to finish on the podium, but we can still have a good weekend. The goal for this weekend is to score points,” he emphasizes. “I don’t know what kind of places we’re going to be really strong and what places we’re not going to be.”
“I would say I think we didn’t expect to be as strong in Russia as we are now, so for us it’s just a matter of waiting,” he explains. “The anticipation is nice in a way, but we’re not in a situation where we can say, ‘This is where we’re going to be really good. We have a rough idea of it, but once you get on the track, things can always change. Also a driver’s confidence can always change a lot, we’ll see if we can have another good weekend this weekend,” said Norris.
