Norris proudly looks back on Russia: “In the history books you are the fastest”


Lando Norris had his best season in Formula 1 to date. The Briton eventually finished sixth in the championship with 160 points and looks back on his proudest moment of 2021.

Norris started his third season in the premier class this year with new-fangled teammate Daniel Ricciardo by his side. After the Briton saw how Ricciardo won the Monza Grand Prix in a dominant McLaren after a rough start, it was the Brit’s turn to show what he is capable of in Russia. Norris cleverly grabbed pole, although the race turned out to be an afternoon to forget.

In conversation with McLaren, Norris and his team look back on his proudest moment of the past season. “I would say my proudest moment was pole position in Russia. My first pole position in Formula 1. There’s just something great about qualifying as fastest. On that day you’re in the history books after all. the fastest man on the track,” he says proudly.

Difficult circumstances

Norris continues with his memory of that afternoon. “It was just really cool because I managed to do everything well in difficult conditions. slicks on a drying track. In a way you can say that it was a pole position to be even more proud of than usual, for the difficult conditions” , the Brit looks back with a smile on his great afternoon in Sochi.
