Perez: “It never gets boring in Formula 1 this way”

Sergio Perez has driven eleven seasons in Formula 1 after the 2021 season. Ahead of the start of his twelfth season, and his second year at Red Bull, he says he still has a lot to learn in the dynamic premier class of motorsport. In the TAG Heuer podcast, he explains that despite all the experience, there are still plenty of challenges.

“Every time there is a new challenge and we come across something new”, Max Verstappen’s teammate kicks off. “That’s the beauty of the sport, it’s never the same. I’ve been in this sport for 11 years and I’m still learning new things. This is also because the sport is always evolving, so new challenges arise and you have to different way of driving or communicating with the team.”

Learning in F1 never stops

Perez can’t imagine a time coming when he can’t learn anything more in racing. “I think that will never stop. It’s not that with experience you suddenly no longer have to work, because this sport always keeps pushing you to the maximum.”

“This is why I love F1,” he continues. “I enjoy Formula 1 so much, there is always something new to experience. It never gets boring this way. A lot is happening and changing and you have to keep learning everything.”
