Haas driver Mick Schumacher has had a mixed rookie season in Formula 1. Yet he carries a legendary last name and should he be given a competitive car, he can better show what he can do.
The German is driving colorless at the back of the Haas this season. Still, the driver experiences a lot of pressure because of his last name, but he manages to develop himself in the lee of a small team. In conversation with F1 insider, he says that there will really be next year.
Respect for Schumacher senior
The son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is still proud of his father. “I have a lot of respect for what Dad has achieved,” says the Haas driver. The road to Formula 1 is not for everyone and it is an intensive activity. “Once in Formula 1, it’s no less, because now you have to do twice as much,” said Nikita Mazepin’s teammate. That is precisely why he has gained more respect for his father’s career: “The fact that my father has been able to do this with great success for so long makes me proud.”
The goal is clear for a Schumacher: “I have the feeling that one day I can become world champion. If I didn’t have that, I’d be here to ride alone.” Filling the field is not the young driver’s goal. “I want success in Formula 1,” Schumacher concluded.
