Mick Schumacher’s rare outing in Q1 in Turkey has provided the Haas team with some necessary freshness. Team boss Guenther Steiner draws his conclusions and looks forward to the future with a better car.
Haas has made a conscious decision in 2021 to leave the current season as it is and focus on the car of 2022, when Formula 1 will be subject to many technical changes. As a result of that choice, things are not going well for the American team this year and both Schumacher and teammate Nikita Mazepin come up short every race to even join the rest of the field.
Score points in 2022
In Turkey there was suddenly Schumacher with one hell of a performance, by just pushing through towards Q2. The team boss did that very well. “It is my personal greatest satisfaction to see how the team shows itself when it needs to be. Everyone has done a great job in Turkey. That makes me happy because I now know that we are ready. If we have a better car , the team is ready to score points,” he is looking forward to 2022.
Happy with Q2
Steiner has no doubts and expects his team to do well next year. “We are ready for next year, we are doing well. Of course we will also make mistakes. I am very happy for the team, everyone is trying their best to get the most out of it. Three years ago we were disappointed if we didn’t went to Q3, now we’re happy when we get out of Q1. It’s very different, but that little bit of success does everyone good,” he concludes.
