The Formula 1 season has once again been turned upside down. Max Verstappen faces a five-place grid penalty on Sunday afternoon and that may well mean the final decision in the championship if Verstappen does not find his way forward in Qatar.
While it is difficult to overtake on the Losail International Circuit and Lewis Hamilton starts from pole position, the five-place penalty for ignoring double yellow flags in qualifying looks like a huge blow to the Dutchman in his battle for the world title. This is how the world is reacting to the potential sledgehammer blow to the Red Bull driver.
My son and I went on a tour to Qatar. We were admiring the Qatar fans when he suddenly pointed at the podium. My son said: “Dad, why’s Hamilton 4 tenths ahead on a Redbull track”? I said “Son. He has an illegal car. Sadly they will punish Verstappen for it anyway”

‘Verstappen, a little like Hamilton, can be quite spectacular when his back’s against the wall and he’s up for a fight.

Don’t get it twisted, if Verstappen is a serious driver he will still win this race. Five place grid penalty is nothing.
Hamilton had a 25 place grid penalty and still won the race by 10 seconds last Sunday 🤕

Just to cheer everyone up after Verstappen’s P7: P3 for Alonso behind Hamilton is of course quite a fascinating starting ingredient #qatargp

Now that both Hamilton and Verstappen have received penalties in the last few races – can we agree that the FIA aren’t biased towards one team/driver? Instead they’re just wildly inconsistent with their decisions and it needs to be looked into by whoevers job that is. #F1
