After the 9-th Formula 1 World Championship round in Turkey on the Istanbul Park circuit: GP winner Valtteri Bottas did everything right, Max Verstappen is again World Championship leader thanks to second place.
The Turkish Grand Prix outside the metropolis of Istanbul ends with Valtteri Bottas’ first triumph in more than a year, since Sochi 2020. The 32-year-old Finn did everything right and laughed on the radio: “That was fun!” Here are the first voices after the race.
Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes / 1st)
“Damn long time ago! I think that was one of my best races in Formula 1. I slipped once, but otherwise everything went smoothly. The car was very good throughout the race and I was able to build a lot of confidence. It wasn’t easy to pinpoint the right strategy. But finally everything went smoothly for me. The circumstances were tricky. There was only one line on the slowly drying track, if you were only a few zenith meters from the ideal line, then you had a big problem. I worked hard to win this victory. ”
Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing Honda / 2nd)
«That was one thing above all – tire management. But I guess we got the maximum out of this race. It was more than just damage control. The track was greasy, it wasn’t easy. Because I was constantly busy keeping the tires alive, I couldn’t attack to my heart’s content. There was nothing to be done against Bottas, he was simply faster. It was very easy to make a mistake today. My biggest problem? The tire management. That was the key to a good result today. I’m back in the lead in the World Cup now, but against Mercedes it will be a close match in the upcoming races as well.”
Sergio Pérez (Red Bull Racing Honda / 3rd)
«Finally on the podium again, what an intense race! The tires went through several phases, sometimes better, sometimes worse. It was one of those races in which you have to be patient. Today everything revolved around the behavior of the rollers. And it was difficult to imagine what would happen next.”
