Max Verstappen is not worried about the progress the Mercedes team has made in recent months. The Dutchman states that Red Bull cannot change it anyway and that it therefore makes no sense to worry about it.
Since the Grand Prix of Great Britain, the Mercedes team has been on the rise. The German racing stable has found a lot of extra speed in recent races and that has not gone unnoticed by the competition. During the press conference, Verstappen was asked whether he is concerned about the increasing performance of competitor Mercedes. “I’m not worried because there’s nothing we can do about it. We need to focus on ourselves – there are a few things on our side that we could do better.”
“We also learned a lot in Turkey. We are doing our best to perform better with our package and find some more power.” While Verstappen is not worried about the competition, he can do nothing but admit that Mercedes has made a big step. “Yes of course they have, but like I said, we can’t do anything about that. So we have to focus on ourselves.”
Perez surprised by Mercedes
Team-mate Sergio Pérez was asked if he was surprised by the sudden improvements in the competition. The driver from Guadalajara was short of substance. “Yes, absolutely. Over the past few races, they’ve managed to do a lot, especially on the straights.” [extra] speed,” said Pérez.
