Max Verstappen has had Gianpiero Lambiase as an engineer since day one at Red Bull Racing and describes that relationship as ‘good and honest’. There are times when they do not agree with each other, but nevertheless the two feel good about each other, the Dutch indicates at AutoSport.
During the race weekend we often hear the Limburger communicating with his English engineer. “We actually talk about everything. Of course we sometimes disagree, then we quickly forget, because at the end of the day we have the same goal: to win every weekend or achieve the best result possible.” That makes it sometimes on the cutting edge: “Sometimes we get a little emotional, but that’s part of racing.”
The leader of the classification is nevertheless very satisfied with his engineer: “GP and I have been working together for a few years now. We therefore have a good and fair relationship with each other.” In addition, mutual understanding is crucial in the relationship between the two: “He understands what I need in the car, but also how I can give him feedback.”
In addition, the Limburger does not experience a discussion with his colleague as something negative: “Ultimately, we both want to make the car and each other better. Then you have to have discussions if you want to come to solutions. We are also honest with each other, as I am with Helmut Marko and Christian Horner. That’s what makes it so good,” concludes the Dutchman.
