Verstappen starts virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans from P2 after exciting qualifying

Max Verstappen took second position during qualifying for the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Dutchman can therefore start in the front row with his teammates on behalf of Team Redline. The new Formula 1 world champion was only two thousandths short for pole position.

The end of qualifying turned out to be very exciting. Verstappen was in second place for a long time, but after the rest of the field crossed the line for their final lap, the Dutchman dropped to P5. The Red Bull driver had to make up for some time and was one of the last to cross the line, but he was two thousandths short for pole.

With second place, Team Redline has improved its result from the previous edition. In 2020, the team finished in P5 in qualifying. Verstappen himself was especially disappointed by missing out on pole position by such a small margin. He was seen shaking his head after he crossed the line.

Start of the race on Saturday afternoon

The virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans will start at 1.30 pm on Saturday afternoon. Verstappen will then compete with his teammates Felix Rosenqvist, Maximilian Benecke and Atze Kerkhof against Bent Viscaal and Beitske Visser, among others. Team Redline will then try to finish the race this time after the debacle in 2020.

Don’t miss anything from Verstappen’s actions? We will keep track of everything at F1Maximum through a live blog that will appear on Saturday 15 January around 1 pm.
