Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher reunite to compete in the Race of Champions. The two Germans will represent Team Germany in 2022, making them the line-up of our Eastern neighbors for the second time.
The Race of Champions, ROC for short, is a major event in which usually major drivers from different classes in motorsport participate. Think names like Tom Kristensen (Le Mans), Jimmy Johnson (NASCAR) and Josef Newgarden (IndyCar). Vettel will start his anniversary edition next year. The German is participating in the event for the tenth time. The four-time world champion has also been very successful at the ROC, with a very handsome streak of six wins between 2007 and 2012, alongside Mick’s father, Michael Schumacher.
Vettel is looking forward to it
That legacy is now being continued. Vettel is entering the ROC for the second time with Schumacher junior, after the team took second place in 2019. “I’m looking forward to participating again and representing Team Germany, together with Mick. Last time in Mexico we came second, so now I hope to finish a spot higher in Sweden. The Scandinavian drivers in particular will be very strong. They are used to driving on snow and ice,” the German said on the Aston Martin team site.
Special snow track
With snow and ice, Vettel is referring to the special edition of this ROC. While normally driving in a stadium setting, a special snow edition has been chosen for next year. The organization is building a unique circuit on the frozen Baltic Sea. A special edition of the event will therefore be held on the special circuit in Sweden and that will undoubtedly provide the necessary spectacle. The event will take place from 4 to 6 February 2022.
