Toto Wolff briefly commented on Christian Horner’s visit to the stewards on Sunday evening. The Briton had to come to the fore after disrespectful statements against the marshals.
Horner was furious after his driver Max Verstappen was given a five-place grid penalty for a yellow flag violation on Saturday. “I think it’s just a rogue marshal waving a yellow flag when not instructed by the FIA. They need to keep their marshals under control. It’s as simple as that, because this is a crucial blow to us in the world championship. We starting seventh on a track where you can’t overtake, that’s huge,” he complained to Sky Deutschland.
The Briton was sent to the stewards by Michael Masi for his comments and he was eventually faced with an official reprimand for breaking the rules. Horner later apologized to the marshals and volunteered to participate in a so-called “stewards seminar” that will take place in 2022.
Wolff can’t suppress laughter
Title rival Wolff obviously had to chuckle at the incident. “There is a lot at stake and you should always… actually I don’t want to comment on him at all. We are all responsible for what we say. The pressure is high and that is different for everyone,” explains Wolff, who couldn’t help but laugh at the incident. “Actually I haven’t even heard or read what he said. All I know is that he was naughty,” Wolff chuckles.
