Raúl Fernández: More fitness training for MotoGP

In Moto2, Raúl Fernández was able to celebrate eight GP victories and second place overall as a rookie. Now he is moving up to the MotoGP class. And so that the start there works just as well, the Spaniard has adapted his training

Last year, Raúl Fernández made it to second place in the World Championship as a rookie. The 21-year-old Spaniard drove eight wins, three second places and one third place on the Kalex of the Red Bull KTM Ajo racing team. That was enough to secure a place on the MotoGP starting grid for the upcoming season.

Together with Moto2 champion Remy Gardner, Fernández will fight for championship points for Hervé Poncharal’s Tech3 KTM team. And so that the start of the MotoGP chapter succeeds, the fast racing driver from Madrid has also adapted his training. In an interview with “Motosan” he says: “I don’t take a few vacations and the preparation is a little different than in the past two years, especially when it comes to physical training.”

“This year I have to train a lot more in the gym because the physical preparation for MotoGP is very important. I train a lot and take little breaks, ”says the ten-time GP winner. And he adds: “I’m really looking forward to the new season and I am incredibly motivated to perform well again.”

The team also endeavors to make the MotoGP promotion easier for the rookie: “Everyone is very committed to me and is motivated to advance our project. They take very good care of me, which of course I really appreciate. No matter what happens, if you have a work and so many people by your side to help you, then that is already a big step forward. That’s why I’m approaching 2022 with a positive attitude. “
