IDM champion Patrick “Pax” Hobelsberger is the only German in the 2022 Supersport World Cup. In order to be well prepared for his first test with the Kallio Yamaha team, the Landau is currently practicing in Spain.

After the World Championship ranks 3 and 5, Philipp Öttl dares to climb up to the Superbike World Championship and has signed with Team Go Eleven Ducati for 2022 and 2023. This means that Patrick Hobelsberger will be the only German in the medium displacement category for the next season.

The IDM champion from Landau an der Isar has signed with Kallio Yamaha for 2022, but it has not yet been decided who will be his teammate. The Finnish team of Vesa Kallio has an excellent reputation, in 2018 they won the world championship with the Swabian Sandro Cortese.

“I’m currently training with Grünwald, Gradinger, Steinmayr, Ortner and Eder in Spain with a Yamaha R3,” Hobelsberger told SPEEDWEEK.com. “I’ll stay there afterwards, because I’ll have the first test with Kallio on January 13th and 14th in Cartagena.”

More and more riders are using small 300 series motorcycles for training, and Superbike World Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu is also regularly on the road like this. Hobelsberger even lovingly provided his machine with sponsor stickers.

“I have big goals for the season ahead and I’m working hard to achieve them,” emphasized the 25-year-old. “I train almost every day on my bike and also on my motorcycle. I want to start the next season as well as possible, the top 10 would be nice. I have the chance to make it onto the podium in Most and Barcelona – that’s my biggest goal. I think that is possible if I have good qualifying sessions. Because starting in midfield was always a bit problematic for me. “
