Overwatch 2 heroes unlockable with free battle pass

Overwatch 2’s upcoming playable characters can all be unlocked with the free version of the battle pass.

Blizzard’s vice president, Jon Spector, has confirmed this on social media. Earlier this year, the company already announced that the free-to-play game Overwatch 2 will not receive loot boxes, but will receive free and paid battle passes.

Fans have since speculated that Overwatch 2’s new heroes may only be unlocked by paying for a battle pass, but this appears not to be the case.

“We will share all the details before release, but would like to confirm that new Overwatch 2 heroes will be available via the free version of the Battle Pass.” Spector also said that players who do not reach a certain tier in the battle pass in time to unlock a hero, can still do so in future battle passes.

Overwatch 2 comes out on October 4 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One. Then the first season begins, which includes 5v5 matches, new characters Sojourn and Junker Queen, the new Push mode and six new maps. The second season will start on December 6. Overwatch 2 completely replaces the first Overwatch.
