Sega has revealed the Yakuza spin-off Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
The company did so during a Yakuza livestream this afternoon. The game takes place between Yakuza 6 and Yakuza 7 and tells what happened to Kiryu Kazama, the main character from the old Yakuza games.
A short clip was shown showing Kiryu meditating. “This is going to be an action adventure,” producer Masayoshi Yokoyama said. “The game will be about half the size of a regular Yakuza game.”
Elements familiar from the series, such as walking around the city, are part of this spin-off, but it should clearly be a side story that simultaneously prepares people for Like A Dragon 8, formerly known as Yakuza 8. The game is due in 2023. out on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One.
Sega unveiled two more Yakuza games today. There is Like A Dragon 8, which was previously known as Yakuza 8. In this new main part, both Kiryu and Ichiban return. The game is set to release on PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox consoles in 2024. There will also be a remake of a spin-off that was only released in Japan, called Like A Dragon: Ishin. It features characters from the modern Yakuza games, but the game is set in a fictionalized version of Kyoto in 1860. The game will be released on February 21, 2023 on PC, PS5, PS4 and Xbox consoles.
