Twitch is pulling the plug on the streaming platform’s popular hosting feature.
Twitch announced this in a news item. The feature will be removed as of October 3. The Host feature allows streamers to take their viewers to someone else’s stream before going offline. This is mainly used to highlight friends or acquaintances and give some viewers. In addition, it is possible to automatically host another stream when one is offline.
The feature has been available on Twitch since 2014 and is a very popular way to help small streamers, for example.
“We have made the decision to discontinue this feature because the experience it provides to viewers does not match their expectations when they come to Twitch. Viewers want to interact with a streamer when they are live and host mode prevents this from happening. preventing viewers from interacting with the streamer they are watching also limits a streamer’s growth potential, as they are unable to build meaningful connections with those new viewers,” the announcement reads.
