Original Post: Niantic has announced that a Pokémon Go Safari Zone event is coming to Europe.

The event will take place on August 12 in the city center of Amstelveen. Just like in handheld RPGs, special zones spawn rare Pokémon that players can catch for a limited time. Pokémon from other continents will appear, among other things.

A global event will also kick off on July 22 at the Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago. In Grant Park, players can catch certain types of Pokémon, which unlock benefits for players around the world. For example, water Pokémon increase XP and electric Pokémon reduce the distance for eggs.

Also, players can simultaneously catch Pokémon to increase the duration of the bonuses and unlock a special challenge for the players in Chicago. The event is further explained in the schedule below.
